For My Readers on Oahu

One of my readers has asked me to tell you about a dog that she has rescued and is trying to place in a good, loving home. Here's what she says about Ty:
Ty is a young, red and white, slightly built, 3-legged mixed-breed male who has had a rough start in life. Ty was abandoned after being dragged by a truck, whittling away much of his paw and bottom leg. To make matters worse, Ty was also heartworm positive.

The good news is that life has gotten much better for Ty. Because of the amount of damage done to his paw and bottom leg, Ty had to have his front left leg amputated. But this hasn’t interfered with Ty’s mobilization or ability to enjoy life as Ty has adjusted fabulously to having lost a leg. Ty “bounces” around nicely on his remaining three.
Ty is now completely healthy. He has been fully treated for his heartworms and is now heartworm free and is on his monthly heartworm preventative medication. Ty is up-to-date on his vaccinations and he is neutered.

Ty is an easy-going and low maintenance dog that should live as an inside dog. He is crate-trained and is in the process of being house-trained. He likes to simply be in the company of people and is not needy. Inside, Ty likes to sit around the house in the presence of people, though he also likes to go and find a nice spot off on his own for a good nap. Outside, Ty likes to explore things outside for a short time before finding a great spot to lie down comfortably and simply look at things.

It is important to note that Ty is good with female dogs, but he does not like other male dogs or cats.
Ty is eager to please and is learning basic training commands. He is also learning how to walk properly on a leash, which is taking some time for him to coordinate his balance while still understanding what his walker wants him to do on the leash. There is no doubt that Ty will finally be a well-trained dog since Ty tries very hard to understand and to follow the wishes and direction of people.

Ty is a nice dog that will make a wonderful addition to some one’s home.
Elizabeth adds that Ty is named after Ronan Tynan, formerly one of the Three Tenors.

If you're interested in adopting Ty or if you know of someone here locally who would provide a good home, click on my email address near the top of the right sidebar and let me know. I can then put you in touch with Elizabeth. And thanks to Elizabeth for caring for these abandoned and injured animals on Oahu.
